FINANSING FOR OUR PROJECT “STRENGTHENING CAPACITIES OF THE LOCAL GOVERNANCE TO COOPERATE WITH THE COMMUNITIES” APPROVED

In the meeting of the Management Committee of the EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms Strenghtening of Capacity Fund, our subproject “Strengthening capacities of the local governance to cooperate with communities” was approved.
The aim of the subproject is to strengthen the capabilities of the smallest local governance institutions needed for successful and effective cooperation with the local communities and NGOs.
The chiefs of local authorities of the problematic areas lack the knowledge and skills to attract communities, encourage the initiative local people and other NGOs to cooperate and to participate in the implementation of the municipality strategy.
The target group of the subproject is the 86 chiefs of local authorities or their deputies of the Druskininkai, Jurbarkas, Rokiškis, Šalčininkai, Švenčionys, Pasvalys, Joniškis ir Lazdijai districts. The indirect beneficiaries are about 26000 residents of the participating municipalities.
During implementation of the subproject, different trainings will be held which will help to raise the capacities of the local authorities that are needed for smooth cooperation with potential partners in order to accelerate the development of the problematic municipalities in the social, economical and cultural aspects.
